These chairs are far more expensive than manual wheelchairs but can be leased, financed or rented as well as purchased outright. If there is need for assistance walking but a wheelchair is too much, there are all kinds of walkers and canes that can be used to help improve mobility. Crutches are another item of handicap equipment that are helpful for short term injuries like broken or sprained legs.

There are also handicapped aids that help you perform everyday tasks more easily. For example, there are bathtubs with a door so that there is less worry of slips and falls when exiting the tub. Bath chairs are another type of accessory. The type of handicapped products you need should be explained to you by your doctor. Your medical professional can diagnose your condition, treat it if possible and advise you of things that will make you more comfortable and mobile. Your doctor should also be able to recommend a medical supply store from where you can obtain the accessories you need. In many cases, disabled equipment is covered under one's health insurance plan.
